We were there for World Cleanup Day 2025!

Working together for a clean environment

On 19 September, Klax School sent a powerful message about environmental protection when around 500 pupils and learning guides took part in World Cleanup Day. This is an international event where millions of people around the world collect rubbish to raise awareness of environmental and climate protection issues. Our pupils collected a total of 399 kilograms of rubbish, demonstrating the impact of individual actions.

Another special highlight was the visit of Dr Cornelia Koch, the Mayor of Pankow. After touring the Klax Creative Hub, she spoke to the pupils about environmental pollution, the dangers of microplastics, and potential solutions. She also learned about the school club 'Our Happy Future', which is dedicated to promoting a clean environment throughout the year, both in Berlin and in collaboration with partner schools across Europe. In addition, our student company, 'Second Life Plastic Berlin', is intensely focused on climate protection and develops new products from recycled plastic.

With the support of the 'Meine Schönhauser Allee' initiative, the pupils also ran a stall at the neighbourhood market, raising 400 euros for further environmental projects. To show appreciation for their hard work, the children and young people were given shopping vouchers for the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden shopping centre.

The Klax School's participation in World Cleanup Day demonstrates impressively that together we can make a big difference for our environment and future generations.
