As part of an Erasmus+ exchange programme, twelve Finnish students from Karjaa met twelve students from the upper school to explore Berlin together and engage in intensive discussions.
On the first day, there was a sporting challenge on the programme, as bouldering together required a lot of coordination and stamina. On the second day, the young people were out and about on foot, exploring Berlin's city centre with its historic buildings, taking in the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and reflecting on the division of the city. The highlight for everyone was certainly a visit to the German Bundestag, including a very informative guided tour. From the third day onwards, it was time for "mental work". Topics such as migration, urban development and sustainability goals were discussed in various working groups. On the final day, the podcasts and presentations that had been created once again ensured a fruitful exchange, where the Finnish and Berlin students realised that they had a lot in common in their understanding of social problems and ideas for possible solutions. It was a lot of fun for everyone involved and there is great anticipation of a "return visit" to Finland.
