Award-Winning Commitment by the Klax School Company
This year's “Practical Learning” sponsorship award ceremony took place on 10 November at Bröndby High School in Berlin-Steglitz, under the patronage of Senator Katharina Günther-Wünsch. The Klax School was represented by its company "2 Life Plastic" which won the award.
Selected Berlin schools were invited to present their projects at the event as part of a gallery walk. The Klax School's makerspace team and student company presented their new pitch deck for the 2025/26 school year. The school company "2 Life Plastic" combines practical, interdisciplinary learning in STEM subjects with elements of maker and design, finance, and sustainable management. Since 2023, participating students have independently taken on organisational tasks and developed long-term projects on climate protection and recycling.
One key outcome of their efforts is the newly developed collection boxes, which have been installed at various sites across Berlin in collaboration with partners. The collected plastic waste is processed in the Klax School's makerspace and recycled into everyday items such as spinning tops and combs — a tangible contribution to environmental protection and an impressive demonstration of how students can independently design sustainable processes.
