The year 2020 has already demanded all kinds of imagination from our pupils. So the question of whether we could participate in this year's National Reading Day did not arise at all. It was clear from the beginning: We will find a solution for this obstacle!
Equipped with modern technology and the school's own podcast room, the conditions were ideal for a reading day suitable for Corona. Within one week, the students recorded 19 videos, two of them computer animated, and nine audio books.
The books and stories presented were chosen under the motto "Europe and the World". In addition to ancient legends, historical reports and timeless classics, the children also presented stories written by themselves.
Since some of the classes were not always there due to the school's hygiene concept, the particular challenge was to coordinate everything. However, this spurred our students on to perform at their best and even the upper school students took up readings in other languages.
Now we are already thinking intensively about how to proceed with the sound recordings. An Advent calendar with a new daily listening experience for all pupils in the "digital schoolyard" could be possible.
We hope you enjoy listening!
