Klax School Receives eTwinning Quality Label for Sustainability Project

Klax School is proud to announce that our extracurricular group, 'Our Happy Future', has been awarded the eTwinning National Quality Label 2025! The jury recognised the project's relevance, its creative use of digital media and the vibrant intercultural exchange between the participating schools. The group also received the Pupil Quality Label in recognition of the students' active involvement.

eTwinning is an initiative of the European Commission within the Erasmus+ programme that digitally connects schools across Europe. Teachers and students can use the platform to establish international partnerships, develop projects and strengthen their media and language skills, as well as their intercultural understanding. The National Quality Label recognises projects that excel in terms of their pedagogical quality, creative use of digital media and international collaboration. In Germany, the label is awarded by the Pedagogical Exchange Service in cooperation with the federal states' Ministries of Education or Senate Departments.

'Our Happy Future': Sustainability and European Partnership
The extracurricular group 'Our Happy Future' is part of the Erasmus+ school partnership project of the same name, involving schools from Germany, Finland, Spain, Latvia, Italy, and France. Since 2022, our students from grades 3 to 6 have been enthusiastically committed to environmental protection and sustainability, actively contributing to the implementation of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

With the motto “Think Plastic Free” in mind, the children organise exchange meetings with partner schools, carry out beach clean-ups and study local bodies of water. They explore ways to reduce their plastic consumption and search for more sustainable alternatives together. Alongside environmental education, intercultural exchange plays a central role: through creative theatre performances and shared online Advent calendars, the children learn more about each other's cultures, discovering similarities and differences as they experience Europe in a vivid way.

Receiving the eTwinning Quality Label is a cause for celebration and provides further incentive: education for sustainable development remains a key pillar of our school. Through projects such as 'Our Happy Future', we promote environmental awareness and participation, as well as fostering a strong sense of European community among our students.

We would like to thank the dedicated students in the group, their learning guides Heiko Mattschull and Silke Schaper, our fundraising coordinator Manuela Bär and our partners for their outstanding commitment. We are already looking forward to taking the next steps together towards a sustainable future!
