From 1 to 5 November, a delegation of 24 Klax students together with Daniel Somogyi (class leader 10a and learning facilitator) and Julia Steckhan (coordinator for openness, diversity and tolerance) visited our partner school in Denmark, the Deutsche Nachschule Tingleff, as part of the Erasmus+ project "Democracy Education in Digitalised Societies".
In several workshops, the students from both schools worked together on topics such as fundamental and human rights, freedom of the press, participation and responsibility. There was also a focus on the challenges we face in a digitalised society and how we can all be influenced and manipulated in social media. In particular, the topics of lobbying, social bots, filter bubbles and fake news were named in the students' feedback as enrichment and knowledge gain. In an exciting round of talks, the students then took on the roles of different actors and had a lively discussion about the speed limit on German motorways. Together they analysed different communication patterns and the context of the topics they had previously worked on.
Of course, fun and getting to know each other were not neglected during the week. The students had the opportunity to get to know each other through games during the breaks and in the evening programme. The bumper balls were certainly a special highlight. On Wednesday, there was also a big Halloween party with costumes, films, a casino and our own DJ, and during the excursion to Kollund, the students learned about German-Danish history in the border region. A successful balance to the theoretical work in the workshops!
The students and accompanying teachers leave Denmark with many positive impressions and ideas for further cooperation.
We are looking forward to the visit of the Tingleffer pupils in March 2022 and say:
Tak for alt, og på gensyn snart!
(Thank you for everything and see you soon!)
