Modelling dental fillings, building a cat house or mounting electric cables - that's how career and study orientation works today. On 5 and 6 May, our 8th graders looked at various training opportunities. The pupils got to know 16 occupational fields in an action-oriented and practical way within the framework of the talent course.
Working in stations, the students gained an insight into a variety of academic professions and training opportunities. Almost every occupational field was represented: From electrical engineering, health or civil engineering to architecture and media. At the various stations, the students bandaged an arm, measured the pH value or bent figures out of wire. In addition, the classes dealt with their personal professional interests. "The aim of the course is for the students to explore different professions and to become clear about their wishes, goals and ideas", the workshop leaders explain. At the end, in addition to the presentation of individual professions, there was also a reality check: together they checked whether their personal wishes and goals also matched the desired occupational field.
The career and study orientation programme was organised by the social enterprise Studio2B and conducted by student teachers from various universities in Berlin and Brandenburg.
