Klax School – Climate Protection in Action
On Friday, September 20th, 26 students from grades 7 to 10 at Klax School participated in an interactive Citizen Science Camp, working alongside our Makerspace team to actively engage in climate protection. This special event was part of the Erasmus+ YETI Project and Climate Adaptation Week, made possible through a partnership with Grün Berlin and the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and Environment.
Equipped with maps, measuring devices, and a wealth of inspiration from theoretical inputs, the students gathered valuable data on air pollution and the urban heat island effect.
For practical fieldwork, the young participants spent two hours collecting and analyzing data in the surrounding area. Through group activities, they developed actionable solutions, evaluated ideas, outlined project plans, and pitched their findings.
The students demonstrated how our urban environments can be made more sustainable through citizen science and nature-based solutions.
This event was a unique opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience in climate protection and to develop critical skills in environmental awareness and civic engagement.
A big thank you to all the partners who made this project possible.
On the same day, almost 600 Klax students also participated in the World Cleanup Day.
