Gemeinsam ankommen und das neue Schuljahr gestalten
Arriving, getting to know one another, being curious, setting goals and developing ideas together – that is what the encounter week at Klax International School is all about.
With their logbooks, timetables and portfolios, the pupils found their bearings as they began the new school year and got to know their new learning groups and tutors.
The focus was on personal questions: What do I want to learn, try out or improve this school year? And what can I do to help ensure that our school community is a good place to learn? By setting themselves a personal learning goal and a social goal, the pupils established their initial priorities for the new school year.
Shaping the school community together is also an important part of the interaction week. The pupils explored values such as respect, tolerance and reliability, and developed a shared understanding of what makes for good community spirit. It became clear that a sense of community does not arise of its own accord – it thrives when everyone takes responsibility and plays their part.
A particular highlight to round off the encounter week was the pupils’ competition for primary and lower secondary school pupils on Friday. The focus was on the Klax International School’s networks and accreditations: ‘School without Racism – School with Courage’, ‘STEM-friendly School’, ‘Environmental School in Europe’ and ‘eTwinning School’. The pupils chose a specific area of focus and developed a workshop idea for the upcoming winter project week that explores that topic in greater depth.
The week’s activities concluded with personal goals, new friendships and plenty of shared ideas. The pupils used the first few days to settle in, find their place within the new community and start the school year with curiosity and confidence.
