In bright sunshine 36 excited children and their families gathered in our festively decorated schoolyard. Ronja from the eleventh grade opened the program on the piano. Ms. Valle, our primary school principal, welcomed the young and old guests in German and English and guided them through the stage program. Children from the fifth and sixth grade introduced our daily routine and two students from the second grade explained our mentoring system - at Klax School all first graders have a mentor from the second grade!
After the program the time had finally come: The new first graders got their School Cone and accompanied their new class teacher into their classrooms. The parents were given an overview of school life and were then delighted with the buffet, including burgers, a vegetable pan and ice cream from the local ice cream parlour! In the early afternoon the families said goodbye and continued to celebrate this special day privately.
We are looking forward to our new students and wish everyone a good start in the new school year!
