Klax School awarded as ‘STEM-friendly school’

State Secretary Kühne honours Klax School as STEM Champion

The Klax School has officially been awarded the ‘STEM-friendly school’ title at the new KiezLab at Amazon's Berlin location. This award is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing future-oriented education and high-quality support for our students' STEM skills.

The ‘MINT Zukunft schaffen!’ (Creating a Future with STEM) initiative, under the patronage of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, honours schools that integrate mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology into their teaching in sustainable and innovative ways. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel, Chairman of the Board of MINT Zukunft e.V., emphasised, ‘Our award-winning schools demonstrate the success of future-oriented teaching, from primary to secondary level.’

The award was presented by State Secretary Dr Torsten Kühne and partners from the education sector and industry. Heiko Mattschull (Head of Klax School Profile), Adam Kosjanik (Coordinator for Media Education and School Digitisation), and students Matthis Redlich and Emil Lennartz accepted the award on behalf of the Klax School.

Emil Lennartz gave a presentation on stage about the student company '2 Life Plastic' and showcased an injection mould produced in the school's makerspace using a CNC milling machine. Matthis Redlich talked about project-based work with video cameras and explained how the Klax School's podcast room supports these projects. Mr Kosjanik also discussed the use of AI at the school.

Mr Mattschull emphasised, 'We are proud that our many years of work in STEM education have been recognised with this award.'

This success would not have been possible without the commitment and expertise of our team. Our gratitude goes out to our colleagues and partners who support, accompany and inspire us in our work.
